Calling all collars!
One morning in the spring of 2019, I put together a simple white outfit to wear to the office. A Zara white blouse, a pair of red Chelsea boots, and a wide-leg, dark wash denim. But, thereβs a little bit more than meets the eyes here because that Zara blouse was a perfect embodiment of two trends at the time: puffy, eccentric sleeves, and an oversized, bib-like collar.
βThatβs quite the shirt!β said a bunch of my colleagues sarcastically. The good thing here at The Ging Edit, is that we dress for ourselves.
Now into 2020, it appears as though neither of these trends has gone away, in fact, theyβve evolved into offshoots and copies that have their own take. Take, for instance, the incredibly chic detachable collar that has presented themselves in many forms. From the crisp, cotton collars inspired by the 16th-century government, to the colourful, knit pieces, the detachable collar is one of the easiest ways to elevate your outfit. And especially in a time where opulent styles and royal-inspired outfits are on the rise (thanks, Bridgerton), it looks like collars - be it detachable or the beloved bib shirt - is not going anywhere soon.
Weβve got a few for you to check out today, including a collection from rising brands, but also from namesake lines, too. Donβt be like a sour co-worker, wear a cute collar to your next video call - and do it with confidence!
