There’s a need for face masks right now during the current worldwide pandemic - so why not make it cute?

These brands below have stepped up and created face masks to be worn on your hopefully limited outings to essential services like the grocery store, or doctor’s office.

Please remember that these are not medical grade face masks as they are not equipped with the right technology (and we encourage all non-medical workers to avoid purchasing emergency grade masks due to the worldwide shortage among healthcare workers). However, these face masks can help to limit the rapid spread of infection and flatten the curve, especially when used by asymptomatic individuals covering up when interacting in public.

If you’re interested in taking extra precautions during COVID-19 while still looking cute, and even giving back to meaningful causes, here are 5 brands to shop for masks, below.

COURTYARD LA

Vintage Fabric Masks,$42.

Courtyard LA is an online vintage retailer based in - you guessed it - Los Angeles. We love the aesthetic of this brand because it celebrates body positivity, old Hollywood, and reusing vintage fabrics to make something perfectly new. Recently making the shift to only making undergarments and accessories, 6-weeks or so ago founder Alia Meagan shared that she had recovered from the coronavirus, which led her to design a variety of COVID-19 face-masks as well.

LIRIKA MATOSHI

Strawberry Face Mask, SOLD OUT and re-stocking soon.

Lirika Matoshi is a designer originally from Kosovo and is now living in New York. Her flirty, sparkly, and embellished pieces have dazzled Instagram for many years now. And lucky for us, she’s now making one of her top pieces - the strawberry dress - into a 100% cotton face mask. 100% of the proceeds go to charities in Kosovo. *all masks are currently sold-out but will re-stock soon

FRUTA

Stay Safe Masks, $24.

Fruta Official - we love them. The beaded jewelry, the colourful accessories, and the online shop are all a dream to visit. And now, they’ve added a collection of face masks to add a bit of sunshine to your day.

HANNAH ISOLDE

Fancy Mask, $25.

Hannah Isolde is an heirloom clothing maker based in Montreal, Canada. We’ve been admiring her hand-made pieces like her multi-coloured blouses for a long time now. She recently started making machine washable face masks - made with two layers of 100% cotton - for her family, which eventually turned into servicing her community on Instagram, too.
